FLEX ADVENTURES

Position: Associate

Company Name: Flex Adventures

Location: West Lafayette, IN

Discipline: Operations, Marketing

Experience: None needed

Type: Full - Time

The Opportunity:

Have you ever heard the rumors that Purdue University is not a great party school? Are you sick and tired of going back to your home town and hearing IU students talk about how much more fun their school is than yours? For one, I completely disagree, and this is why I am giving you the opportunity to prove these haters wrong and do something about it!

Flex Adventures is a start up company run by Eric Coake and myself. We are creating a party bus experience for Purdue University students and others in the surrounding area. We feel that there is a problem that Purdue and the greater Lafayette area does not offer any sort of party bus or really any kind of fun alternative in general. We are going to revolutionize the way people party at Purdue, and this is just the beginning.

Our goal at Flex Adventures is to start small, and aim big. Although we are starting our operations here in West Lafayette, we plan on expanding our operations to other schools in the midwest based on the expected success we are going to have.

Your Job Entails
•Negotiating with club promoters and owners throughout the midwest
•Leading the team in developing a full-scale marketing plan, writing, editing, and re-editing in a group environment
•Designing brochures and flyers
•Designing a website
•Assist in the design of the ultimate party bus
•Assist in the construction of the ultimate party bus

Requirements:

We have no formal requirements. We are looking for people who work well in a team scenario. We are also looking for people who know how to have a good time, and would like to make a difference here on campus.

One last thing I would like to emphasize is that here at Flex Adventures, we work as a team. I don't think anybody should have more say than the next person, and that is why there are no distinct positions. We will all collaborate together to creatively solve a fun problem. If you would like to make some money and have fun doing it, join Flex Adventures and enjoy the ride.

If you are interested in being part of our team, please email a copy of your resume to knashert@purdue.edu, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Company Mission

We entertain. We're here to bring the party to midwest and provide something that this part of the country just doesn't understand. Our service will bring smiles across the midwest.

Company Profile

We are a company that thinks outside the box. We are here to deliver a quality transportation service with a party atmosphere. We live in a world where a college education is becoming a must have in order to succeed. We feel that incoming college students and current college students in the midwest are looking for something more than just an education. Let's be real. People go to school to school to get an education, yes, but they are here to have a good time as well!

Flex Adventures is a start up company still in the works, and the future is bright. Eric Coake and myself have put together a business plan, and we aren't just hoping that everything works out. We expect success, and there is no reason not to. With our experience in party planning and our unique connections in the midwest, we are here to deliver the goods.

Currently we have 3 different parties signed up and ready to go as soon as operations begin. When we do begin, we're not just going to entertain them. We're going to overwhelm them with a unique party experience that they've never even imagined.

We are all about the people, and this is where a lot of companies go wrong. They don't take into consideration that the customer is not just a very important part of your business. The customer is your business. We are constantly looking to improve are company and gear our business toward the customer. Flex Adventures will provide a differentiation advantage to Purdue University and eventually many other universities throughout the midwest.

The sky is the limit. With our creative minds together, we'll make it happen. Enjoy the ride.

Cat Shuler, Director

ENGL 420E

110 N. Wacker Dr.

Chicago, IL 60606

Dear Cat Shuler,

As a Purdue University senior in Selling and Sales Management, I would like to like to fill the position of Project Manager advertised in the course syllabus.

I have been thinking about our conversation at Purdue’s job fair on April 4th.  I believe that leadership is very crucial as we discussed, and I possess the necessary skills to be an extremely effective leader for my group and this class.

My general understanding of the workplace was greatly enhanced through my experiences in my two recent internships, one with General Growth and the other with Finish Line. With General Growth, I investigated and organized various project costs into a database that I designed specifically to make things much easier to read and access for all of the developers. This was great learning tool as I now am aware of what it takes to be successful in the workplace and in team scenarios. Because of these experiences, I have benefited greatly.

Although I have learned and benefited from my internship work experiences, I have found that my experiences out of the workplace may be the most influential of all. Growing up, I played sports my entire life. As a captain on just about every team I have ever played on, I really learned how to work as a team, and get the most out of every individual that’s a part of the team. I have always accepted a leadership role no matter what I do, and I think that this trait of mine will be very beneficial to the class and my group.

I’m excited for the opportunity to speak with you and discuss possible contribution to the class as a project manager. I feel that my skills in communication and leadership will be very beneficial to this class. I will get back to you later in the week, but if you need to get a hold of me in the mean time my cell phone number is (630)564-1396, and my email address is knashert@purdue.edu. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Kyle M. Nashert
