Beating the competition!

Though many people in the world have good business ideas, a few proceed with it and only a handful of them are successful. Clearly, when it comes to being an entrepreneur, having a good business idea does not suffice. We are required to convince a wide range of people from potential investors to potential customers. Our audience always wants to take a brief look at how our business would be beneficial to them. But with a world full of people with a million business ideas, both good and bad, meeting and interacting with every person with a business idea is not possible. That is where writing and rather persuasion takes a vital role in our society. E.g. A potential investor might like or dislike a business idea after looking at the business plan. Hence, someone reading our business plan needs to be made to think our way primarily through our writing. Persuasion can become even more important when we have competitors with similar business ideas. I am an aspiring entrepreneur who hopes to learn from this course the skill of rhetorical writing. This will enable me to get my business ideas across effectively to my intended audience, so that they can trust and support them.

A good business idea is not enough

I agree that just having a good business idea is not enough. It is clear that many entrepreneurs fail just on the account that they cannot sell their idea through their writing or persuasion. A great business idea needs to be complimented with superior persuasion and concise but strong communication. As you mentioned, there is often the same idea being pursued by multiple entrepreneurs, and the one that will make it will be the one that can effectively sell their idea with their skills in writing and persuasion. Like you, I hope to improve my skills of rhetorics to get my business ideas across effectively.
