Rhetorical Choices

Posted 09/11/2008 - 02:02 by dschmitt

To start off, I definitely was unprepared to give a presentation with no aid such as a note card or piece of paper. Everything I said was what popped into my head at the moment and seemed to be the right time to say it. I tried to give a good explanation of my idea by being simple. I felt there was no need to get indepth, just tell the basic idea and that would be enough. I wanted to explain more about the city of Amsterdam, being a beautiful dutch city that is filled with thousands of similar looking bicycles.

I did not dress up for the presentation because it was class and not an actual pitch, it was also late in the day and I had no time to go back to my apartment to change. I prepared for the pitch by jotting down some talking points and then just free-flowing it once I got up there. I know everything there is to know about my idea so it was fairly simple to come up with a short speech.

Persuasion with precision

I will analyze my business idea pitch from two vital aspects, firstly content and secondly, delivery or presentation.

my choices

well, the reason for everything I said in the pitch comes from my dream of having my own company with Michelle. So, I came up with the name Flotero. Flores and Otero combined.

With that stated, as far as the services go. I want to improve productivity in companies. As an HR Intern at Pearson I was able to notice the need for improved productivity as far as files and documents go.

So, to make the transitionneasier to companies. I want to offer free dtaqbase systems in return for all of their cabinets and stuff.

It was a little bit difficult to get all of the information I wanted to out in the short amount of time we had. I tried my best to bring up the points that would mean the most to the class, but thinking about it after the pitch, I definitely forgot to say a lot that I wanted to say. I ran out of time, and so I had to shorten it up. I chose to bring up the fact that I have already talked to people about this, and they are ready to jump on board. I believe that gave me some credibility.

A good idea sometimes doesn't suffice

I feel that the world is slowly shifting to the web (or web 2.0 as they call it). Facebook, mySpace, Flickr, etc have undoubtedly become a part of our daily life. But I wondered if we ever did something productive on a social network like facebook or myspace. No..in fact, we never do anything productive except being in touch with people.

My Pitch

My pitch was an idea i came up with about a week ago. I pitched the idea of advertising at the drive through. Basically my idea procces was to show that this was a current oppurtunity that was not being taped into. I also wanted to support this by giving facts of how many people eat fast food, how long the average wait is in the drive through, and how this is an extremely large market that is currently not being advertised too.

I choose camjector which is camcorder + projector because this product is what I thinking right now.  Actually, I thought this idea from high school.

I tried to orginized very well, but I failed.  I skipped one or two steps, like behind my company, and weak competitive advantage..

I couldn't use visual aids because camjector is not on the world.

I dressed up just what I wanted because I am representing my own company, so it should be my style.
