Lunts and the Three Guiding Rules

After reading Luntz and the Ten Rules of Effective Language, I suppose that there are at least three rules that I will be able to apply to the Business Plan Analysis.

Rule number one:

Use Small Words

Visual Ethics

After reading this article, I learned that many different ethical issues are able to arise in any workplace. There are many different factors to take into consideration when discussing ethics in business such as the use of charts and graphs. It's fine to use these things when discussing it in a simple way that is true, but once you make it just to deceive your client, it is very unethical. It is just not right to try and misrepresent something when you know that it is wrong.

The PreGame Textbook

Entrepreneurship: Succesfully Launching New Ventures by Bruce Barringer & Duane Ireland

A Beneficial Business Plan Book

I recommend reading The Definitive Business Plan: The fast track to intelligent business planning for executives and entrpreneurs by Richard Stutely. I recommend this business plan text because it is very easy to read and understand. As you start reading it, it really puts you in the mindframe of how a beginner entrepreneur really thinks. It also makes you develop the "correct thought process" of how an entrepreneur should think. It gives you many different sections such as how to raise start-up finance or request funding from other companies.

Extravaganza..aaa...

If I was to choose five out of the seventeen resumes to hire, I would probably choose Ginger Soda, Ariel Mermaid, Kappa Gamma, Rolling stone, and Hiro Nakamura. I would choose these five because they are the ones that stood out to me the most whether it was the font they were using, the size of the font, or just the whole layout of the page. Ginger soda's resume was pretty self explanatory and listed all of her qualifications in good length. It wasn't too much information but still provided enough to show that she qualified.

Resume Reading

After reading this, my thoughts about resumes and how they are perceived have somewhat changed. I have always made my resume pretty broad so that if there was a certain quality they would like about me, they would see it. I definitiely learned that I need to be more specific in the job that I am applying for. I also learned that I should include only the important details rather than random waitressing or serving jobs.

Reaction to my Video

When I thought I did absolutely horrible, I thought that my main point came across pretty well. Before I went up to present, I had a whole presentation planned out from the intro to the conclusion. But when I got up there....I definitely forgot everything I was going to say. I wanted to present this business idea in a fun/care free manner...which I think I did. I thought I could have done better without the little "um's" and pauses which made me look like I ran out of things to say.

And the winner is...

Why I did what I did =)
