Business Writing for Entrepreneurs

Persuasive writing plays an critical role in entreprenuership. In fact, funding is directly affected by one's persuasive ability (whether written or verbal) in two major ways-

1. If your business scope/pitch/plan or any document of the sort is lacking persuasive content, you will lose out on funding from investors.

and

2. If you can't write or act persuasively, you're going to have to pay someone to do it for you.

Writing and persuasion are vital tools needed to become a successful enterpreneur. Being able to write effectively allows better communication between the entrepreneur and prospective investors. The ability to clearly state your goals for your company can give the entrepreneur an advantage over any competition he/she may encounter.

The role of writing and persuasion for an entrepreneur has a big impact on their success. I would go as far as it can make or break their success because they have to document their ideas and proposals in a professional manner. Persuasion probably has a bigger role because I feel one can persuade somebody more effectively by presenting and explaining their ideas. Writing a well thought out business plan is key when trying to get investors to buy their product. If an investor is not persuaded by the business plan the entrepreneur wrote there is no way they will invest.

A primary challenge for an entrepreneur is describing their ideas in great detail while presenting them in a way that sounds exciting and engaging.  When creating a business, the first thing an entrepreneur should do is to write a business plan. In this document, the entrprenuer has to explain his or her idea clearly to the reader while engaging their interests in order to persuade them to invest. If an entrepreneur can not write a professional, persuasive business plan, they will have a difficult time creating a successful business.

One of the most important skills an entrepreneur can posses is effective communication.  Whether that be delegating responsibility to employees, sending memos and emails, putting together an effective business plan, or pitching your ideas to VC's to get funding, communication is essential to a successful business.  Persuasion plays an extensive role in an entrepreneur's success.  Being able to show potential investors that your product or service is "the next new thing"  and they should invest in you, takes an enormous persuasive effort.

One of the most useful tools for an entreprenuer is their business plan.  The business plan often times is the first thing a potential investor or client sees and it must be professional and persuasive.   Understanding how to use professional writing and persuasion is what sells your idea and sets you apart from the rest.
