English 421: Technical Writing

This week:

- Gave impromptu presentation on Tuesday

- White paper is finished and uploaded

- Multimedia project is almost complete

- I realized I neglected about 2/3 of the project logs we were supposed to complete.

This is why I don't like environmentalists. I'm not saying saving the earth is bad; I turn off the lights when I leave the room, I don't drive when I could walk or bike, and I don't throw my plastics out on the freeway.

Here's a little short-and-sweet bit from Oregon State. While looking at different white papers, I realized a lot of them have executive summaries. I decided that since I had no clue what they were, it would be wise to find out and share the wealth (of knowledge).

Okay, so this article is only tangentially related to technical writing and white papers, but I couldn't resist. I figured that since we're busting our asses writing about complicated stuff, it would make us feel better to read (funny) things about the lowest form of technical writing available: product warnings!

For week 9, I assembled the annotated bibliography from sources gathered by my teammates. Due to my reliance on the outdated schedules and project descriptions, I only selected six sources to use instead of the nine we had discussed in class. The finished annotated bibliography will have the minimum sources required.

Before I started using Skype, I had heard about it. Free calls to anyone with a computer and internet access? Holy blasphemy! You can even upgrade for a small fee to call people's phones from your computer. Best way to do long-distance ever! The article aptly describes it as great with publicity but crappy with business.
