English 421: Technical Writing

This is my final project log for group 2. We did our presentation on Tuesday, we had a lot of technical difficulties. The white paper is done, the documentation is pretty well finished, the multimedia side of it is still a work in progress but will be done shortly. that is all.

Didn't do much this week. worked on my section for the white paper. I missed class thursday before break due to the wonders of the United States Marine Corps. That is all I have.

so i just had a conversation via email with one of my co-workers. we spent the last hour or so shooting emails back and forth and you know what the topic was? cellphones, we were talking about cellphones via email. why didnt one of us call the other? i have no idea. ok that wasnt the reason i started this blog.

This weeks topic for the articles is usability and documentation. The article I found for this weeks discusses 'ease of use' in documentaton for paper, computer, and multimedia projects. Throughout the paper they discuss the difference in typeset, length, margins, and use depending on what you are documenting. If you are doing documentation on a project that is a multimedia thing, and you are going to be setting this documentation up to be viewed from a computer you would use certain type faces and spacing so it properlly lays on a computer screen.

Not a whole lot to report for this week. worked on the usability project. Thursday I got called down to my reserve unit so I missed class. That is really about it.

this week for the white paper project i continued my re-working of the rough draft for combination and submition for the other class to read. We began working on ideas for the usability project for further work with the other english class. the goal for the end of the weekend was to have a pretty solid set up for the white paper portions ready to begin revision of the document as a whole versus small pieces. that is all that really happened this week.

Ok so being as the white paper is way played out, and usability isnt very exciting I decided to follow suit with the rest of the class and pick something having to do with the election. Attached is an article that I found to be very interesting. It goes into detail about how our election system was formed and then modified over the years. Yes it has some flaws (big ones in my opinion) but this article gives you some reasons why it is the way that it is.

As requested, all four group members posted their first section drafts to the site so that I could have an idea of how to structure the conclusion, is still very much so a work in progress at this point.  In class we discussed the sections and decided that we needed to add some more information and keep working on our drafts over the course of the weekend (all of us are taking 18+ credit hours and finding time to work on this paper has been rough, for me anyway) and we need to unify the main idea of our white paper.
