English 421: Technical Writing

This in class activity is really about organizational skills and teamwork.  The organizational skills aspect of the exercise correlates well with writing.  In any type of writing, you must first organize your information into a basic model (rough draft).  After that, you must begin to fine tune your basic model by adding more detail and flair.  This basic idea really goes along perfectly with our in class activity.  The idea of the pirate ship is to build the hull and deck first (rough draft).  Then follow that up by building the masts, cannons, etc...(Details).

The teamwork aspect of this aspect can also correlate into writing.  If we do no cooperate with one another, our ship will not have the right parts in the right places.  This goes along with writing in groups as well.  If a group is writing a paper, it is essential that they all communicate their ideas so the paper flows and makes sense.
