Week 10 Project Log: Drafting and Redrafting
As requested, all three group members posted their first section drafts to Sosius so that I could have an idea of how to structure the conclusion, which was my section. In class on Wednesday, we discussed the sections and decided that we needed to add some more information to the introduction as well as unify the main idea of our white paper. The other three group members were given the following objectives (in order of importance) to complete by Wednesday at 2pm:
- Unify the ideas to the more specific main idea (i.e. While distance and cost often limit collaboration, the use of Sosius, Track My People, and When is Good provides a cost-effective, online collaboration package.)
- Add sources to support your ideas. Cite Sources!!!
- Add visuals. We discussed using screen shoots, callouts, and a "key features section." The introduction also offers the possibility of adding a few graphs or charts to highlight cost of non-Web 2.0 services and/or the increase in long-distance collaboration.
After 2pm on Wednesday, I compiled the sections, unified the formatting, and added a title page. I also added the "Key Features" boxes to the draft, although the bullet points were provided by the section author. Finally, I edited the white paper for flow and grammar issues.
The rough draft was submitted on Thursday in class. During the same period, we discussed meeting again this weekend in order to work on the draft together, especially with respect to adding visuals.
