English 421: Technical Writing

Not a whole lot to report for this week. worked on the usability project. Thursday I got called down to my reserve unit so I missed class. That is really about it.

Last week we continued to work on our rough draft.  We got our first rough drafts back and were given the grading criteria to help us determine what needs to be fixed on the papers.  My sections mainly need some proofreading, adding some pictures, and adding to one of my sections.  We plan to have our sections ready as soon as possible.

Well here is some of the same old article stuf that has to deal with Microsoft and what they do to research usability of their products.

Microsoft Usability Research

This link leads to the web site of WorldUsabilityDay.org, an organization that is dedicated to making things easier and more user-friendly. The right side of the home page further describes the mission of this organization and includes a video of Bill Gates explaining the importance of usability. Apparently, on the second Thursday of November each year, they have events all over the world to raise awareness of the importance of usability and its research.
